There is a tradition, that Archangel Gabriel appeared in the form of a monk in Mt Athos and during a prayer to the Theotokos added these lines: "Axion esti trully to bless you the mother of God" ("Ἄξιόν ἐστι ὡς ἀληθῶς μακαρίζειν Σέ τὴν Θεοτόκον").
