I have been studying Homeric Greek and plan to take an Intensive Modern Greek course later this month. I would like to find a copy of a Modern Greek translation of the Iliad (Kazantzakis?) in the USA to buy before I leave for the course. Any suggestions?

Avoid Kazantzakis' translation as the devil avoids incense. There is a decent translation by Sideris, and a good one by Maronitis. If you don't find them there, you can get a copy when you are in Greece - or search at a Greek bookstore online.

Thank you, George -- Kazantzakis was the only translation I'd seen, although I suspected that there might be something more recent. My class is in the USA and only two weeks from now, so if anyone has a suggestion for a bookstore in the USA (so that I might have them shipped in time) that might have these books I'd very much appreciate it.
