I am trying to make a list of the Greek author's titles in Greek. I have done this for quite a few but some I cannot find on the web. I was hoping somebody in this forum could help me get some of the hard ones.

I am trying to find the title by which Thucydides "published" his work. The English title is History of the Peloponnesian War. But what is the way he wrote his title? I could probably just associate the same Greek letters as the English but I doubt that is how he did it. Thanks.

You are in a big trouble my friend. Many, if not most, of the titles by which ancient works are known to us were given by the later tradition and not by the authors themselves, who didn't bother always to give titles to their works. E.g. Thucydides writes in the preface that he wrote the war of the Peloponnesians and Athenians. That's it. No title. Later his work was named "histories", or "history of the peloponnesian war" etc.

Interesting. Well I thought titles was something all humans did. Guess I was wrong. Thanks.

I can't remember what he wrote in the preface and I don't have the book with me but it seems George did find the name Thucydides originally called the work.

"The War of The Peloponnesians and Athenians"
