A kind of heaven Basle made.
At last his warder changed his plan;
No Phlegethon could burn the man.
In each infernal penal cell,
Basle remained incorrigible,
Self-poised within the great I AM.
The Pope his sentence did remand,
Allowing him through Heaven’s gate.
And he was canonized a Saint.
