IN PRINT

Henrik Ibsen, A Doll's House

THE COLD and still beauty of the underworld, the underworld as a temptation, threatening and attesting Andersen's heroes when they experience the limitedness of individuality. Evil creatures do provoke this feeling, but not with absolute success. The leaden soldier and all who have been killed by some Trol, transform the young soul into a wound that will never be cured in this life. Yet, it will be sufferable if the daughters of the sunbeams and the sweet Spirits kiss her. It is this kiss that is most missing from Dickens, a kiss prevalent in genuine fairy tales.
