There seems to be a few unanswered questions (at least to me...)
Was Martha pregnant? Was Emily pregnant? Nothing is ever said about them having babies or what happened to their babies except at one point Betsey Trotwood says that she would have gladly been Emily's baby's godmother. (Or did I misunderstand?)
Also, in a review I read it stated that Dora died in labor. That's incorrect, isn't it? Her baby was refered to as only having it's soul for a moment--but that was said well before she died.

If Emily and Martha were pregnant, it wasn't made very clear. I don't think that they were. Emily stayed with a family that had a baby on her return to London. Dora definately did not die in labor. I wish there was some way to get more information on why Dora stayed so sick after her baby died.
