HI! I AM AN AVID READER OF CLASSIC AND MODERN LITERATURE AND AM A FAN OF CHARLES DICKENS. SO, I AM WRITING THIS LETTER TO YOU IN ORDER TO CLEAR ONE OF MY FOREMOST DOUBTS ABOUT DICKENS' DAVID COPPERFIELD. DURING MY READING OF THE NOVEL, THE FOREMOST QUESTION I WAS FACED WITH WAS THAT, WHY IS THE AUTHOR SO CRUEL ENOUGH TO KILL,HURT OR BLEMISH THE MEMORIES OF ALMOST ALL THE TENDER LOVE AND LOVE AFFIARS INVOLVED IN THE STORY?
WE COME ACROSS, IN THE BEGINNING, WHEN DAVID'S LOVING MOM WAS OPPRESSED BY THE PERFECTLY DEVILISH MURDSTONES,AND SHE DIED SOON AFTER. WE WITNESS THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF BARKIS TOO, IN THE STORY. DAVID'S FIRST INFATUATION, DORA, TOO SUCCUMBS TO AN UNTIMELY DEATH.FINALLY, THE HAM-EMILY-STEERFORTH LOVE TRIANGLE WAS ALSO BRUTALLY CRUSHED BY THE STORMY DEATH OF BOTH HAM AND STEERFORTH! WE HAD EARLIER, SEEN THE UGLY FACIAL SCAR INFLICTED UPON MISS. DARTLE, BY STEERFORTH, WHICH SHE CARRIED ABOUT THROUGHOUT HER MISERABLE LIFE, AS A BADGE OF SHAME, OVER A FAILED LOVE AFFIAR.WE EVEN SEE THE EXISTENCE OF A BLOT OVER THE HAPPY MARRIAGE OF MR AND MRS.STRONG!
SO MANY INSTANCES OF LOST ROMANCES HAVE THUS BEEN DEALT WITH BY A BUTCHER'S HAND, BY THE AUTHOR, AND THIS SHOWS HOW HE LOVED TO PLAY WITH SOMETHING AS PIOUS AS TRUE LOVE, THOUGH AT THE END, HE DOES TRY TO MEND HIS MISTAKES BY AFFECTING THE HAPPY MARRIAGE OF THE TRADDLES AND THE COPPERFIELDS!
SO WHAT DO YOU, AS A MEMBER OF THIS FORUM, THINK OF IT? PLEASE POST YOUR REPLY.

ONE MORE QUERY (THIS ONE'S FOR MY TERM PROJECT)---
DID DICKENS KILL OFF DORA JUST TO REUNITE DAVID AND AGNES, AND HENCE, MAKE IT HAPPY ENDING? (AS ANYWAY, SUCH AN INEXPERIANCED WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE MADE THE DORA-DAVID MARRIAGE A BLISSFUL ONE!) , OR, WAS IT JUST A DAMAGE-CONTROL DEVICE, TO TIE THE LOOSE ENDS OF THE STORY AND FULFILL THE READERS' EXPECTATIONS?
