Hello, everyone here
There are a lot of meaningful sayings ( a kind of wisdom )related with the bible around us .
Some good examples as follows .
> In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread .
(Genesis / Ist Mose 3:19 )
Eye for eye, tooth for tooth , hand for hand , foot
for foot (Exodus, 2nd Mose, 21:24 )
To every thing there is a season . (Ecclesiastes
3:1 )
The love of money is the root of all evil(Paul to
Timothy, Ist letter6:10 )
Have you ever heard about these ones ?
For us Japanese , it isn't so common as Western countries ,but Christian world is very popular .
Anyway good lessons on life those sayings should have .
What do you think of it ?
I hope your comments on it soon .
Thank you .

The Bible is everywhere full of wisdom and in the ages that followed the coming of Christ, many holy Fathers have added to this wisdom, being inspired by the Holy Spirit. However, what I'd like to ask you Noota, is if you've read any translation of Japanese poetry in English. If you have, can you tell me your opinion on what was betrayed, can you, somehow, make me understand what can not be translated at all, or if you have located any reflexion of the western mind in the translation, a nuance of meaning that is missing from the original? Can you use examples of Japanese poems and an English translation in explaining this?

Dear absent-minded ,
Thanks for your quick response.
As you say ,the Bible is universal in respect with a good different wisdom for everyone in the world , what is better , timeless application.
Talking about "Holy Spirit ", We are heirs of God who lavishes us with spiritual riches , as it were , Our inheritance is sealed by the Holy Spirit . We could be given the countless blessings .
I have something to tell you about the translation . Reading English and American literature is my favorite , only original version . Because I feel works translated into Japanese has a nuance of meaning , which makes me uncomfortable . It's most likely owing to social , conventional differnces between Western countries and Japan . I've never read Japanese poems translated into English .But on this occasion I would like to try Japanese poetry in English to compare with original .
It sounds intersting ! After that I will answer your question ( to give examples of Japanese poems and an English translation )
