Hello , everyone !
"Easter is coming soon .
I hear "Easter is a Christian festival celegrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the oldest and the most principle Christian observance of the year .
"Easter -egg " is a symbol of Easter , so there are many
wonderful events related with "Egg " .
For example, egg hunt , egg roll .
whether unfortunately or not , here in Japan , we have no this religious festival .
I would like to know how you celebrate Jesus Christ and spend this festival .
I'm looking forward to your message on it soon .

Persons on this list come from various countries, I'll try to give you a picture from Greece. Perhaps first you could see a painting. It depicts people just leaving the church after the Mass is finished, holding the holy light, joyful and solemn.
During the Holy Week one can sense in the air silence and something like sadness, which is not exactly this, but more of a quiet thinking of the events we celebrate. We fast, we go to Church, but even in the TV Easter hymns are sung, discussions on issues related to the Easter celebration can be seen or transmission of the liturgy from the Churches. Inside the Churches we raise a large cross and as the week proceeds we decorate the Epitaph. On the day of Christ's death there is something like a parade, when the Epitaph goes around the cities with people following it. The day of the resurrection we light our candles with holy light which is sent to Athens from the Holy Land and is given to us by the Churches. We kiss each other, make presents to each other and eat together. Death and resurrection, joy and sadness, together. The Resurrection to which we believe and which we expect is felt together with all the suffering of the present life.

Thank you for your good comment on Easter in detail .
I could understand what is going on during the Holy Week.
Now it is time when people in the world are suffering from the terrible war , starvation , uncuarable disease and so on .
So it is a good chance to think about what is real happiness through this religious festival .

Thanks for your reply .
Here in Japan , we have no such a kind of Christian festival , but only a few Christian celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter in Church , with singing hymn and priest's lecture .
Almost all the Japanese has nothing to do with Easter-Festival , along with another religious event
(Halloween ) .
But it is strange that Christmas is exception ; When Christmas season comes , everybody feel excited at how to spend the merry and wonderful Christmas night and look forward to getting presents from family or lover .
It might be only commercialized , I think .
For few people go to church to celebrate the Christ .
Christmas is a special , splendid religious event beyond countries for not only little children but adults .
I hope you send me another message or question soon .

It is good to hear from you .
No wonder you don't understand we Japanese celebrate Christmas without thinking or believing in Christ .
It is a shame of Japanese ! but I hope you don't forget not everyone hasn't faith of Him .Some Japanese are serious christans who regularly go to church for prayer .
It's certain that for almost all Japanese , Christmas has a kind of romantic , happy and pleasant image without Christ .
Fortunately I had a good experience to take Bible Class long time ago and now I stated doing it once a week .
So we sometimes talk about the festivals related with Christ , including Christmas .
But it is a little hard to share opinions with friends who don't believe in Christ .
