Prelude for Bacchus

The sparrow dived and plucked the grass Lyre,
Stems swayed and undulated in the Elysian fields.
The short choreograph and the rhythm abated as the silent song lingered
in the midst of the warm scents of wild thyme and acanthus.
Osier wound tight around a picnic basket laden with amethyst fruit.
Near the grassy expanse, coils of vines with fruits; ready to
be plucked and eaten for the Bacchanalian revelry; glistened in the sun
after a brief shower that refreshed the dry dusty earth.
