The year of 2004 was the time when terrible natural disasters ,such as "tunami (tidal wave)" in Sumatora attacked human beings , which reminds us Robinson Crusoe . This year is the 300th anniversary of his model called Alxsander Serukirk ( I'm not sure the spelling is right or wrong ),arriving uninhabited island after longdrift . He was a sailor from Scotland . In 1704 he arrived at the island off Chile ( the island of Robinson Crusoe ).He had been living there for 4years and 4months without anybody , alone .After returning to home , the adventurous experience of his was heard by Daniel Defoe in London , which stimulated his writing .
According to the archelogical document , his possessions are clothes, gun, gunpowder , ox and knife, and "Bible " , along with books . It is suppossed to be the Bible is the only mental nourishment , consolation for him .
His lonely life teaches us if we have couraged and wise , we can go through , somehow even if we were to be left alone in the hard nature , surroundings around us .
I bet, "Robinson Crusore" is one of the best classics because of bringing human beings enouragement .
I recommend you first on the Mew Years Day .

Thank.
Although I read it now (29 January 2005), I still agree with you.
There is a profusion of satisfaction when we read something which nourishes our spiritual selves in these cities of our dwelling.
You know, I would impart with you muy deep joy wghen I read in Melville's "Moby Dick" the sermon oficiated by the priest of the bay to the crowd of peaple - haunters of the whales.
It brought me joy, for it concerns us as well as Robinson Crusoe's experience - just lost souls in these cities...
We shall live like Robinsons and gathjered like these whale-hunters.
Thanks.
Sincerely yours,
Victor
