In general , there seems to be unclear distinction between them .( humorous and commic stories ) .
Here is a very interesting lesson from " How to Tell a Story " by Mark Twain .
He say that the humorous story is American , and depend for its effect on the manner of the telling .
It means the tellor make the best efforts not to show the funniest things as much as possible .
On the other hand , the commic story teller points the heart of funny things to make people laugh .
As far as Mark Twains is concerned , there is quite difference between them and we could understand it .
How do you think about his idea ?
Mark Twain is spreadly known to the American literature world as a writer of humorous stories .
Many people might be at a loss what part of the funniest is cntained in his stories , including me.
That is the humorous story , I think .
But is is a great pleasure to measure the hidden meaningful , important parts for me .
Anybody has a good humorous stories by him ?
I hope your reply soon .

Hi,
I don't know if my interferance is good or no, but I would like to say that you misunderstand notions and procedures.
Indeed, there are humorous and comic stories, but, by my opinion, distinction lays not only in distance between the beginning of the story-telling and its end, but in tthe whole meaning of story.
It can be comic to see how a person falls because of its absent-mindness while walking down the street, but it is not humorous.
I think that humour depends on "wit", which is, in old use, the capacity to "catch" the point, while a comic thing does not depend on "wit" - it is entirely based on simple "watching" how it happens. A clumsy person may provoke a lot of laughing towards him, but it doesn't mean thjat the observer is inteligent - it happened that he observed. While humour supposes the person who sees it is quite witty in order to see in serious thing the absurd of life, which is sometimes quite interesting and may provoke smile - of regret bound with the feeling of superiority of human condition of the observes, who wins because is the latest to come to scene and present himself.
I feel as I misdirected you.
In case it is so, please feel free to write me on my mail address (britsky79@yahoo.com)
