Waiting For You
The food has gone cold,
And certainly has gotten old,
But that doesn’t matter to me.
I am waiting for you,
Staring over my cold stew,
At the empty chair where I wish you could be.
I’ve looked outside every now and then,
Because I do not know when,
You will come, knocking at my door.
These candles are bright,
Showing me that this night,
Is the one that I’ve been praying for.
The sunset has colored the sky pink,
But I will never, ever think,
That you have forgotten me.
Even if you did,
Who are you trying to kid?
It’ll take more than that to stop me.
Now the candles are dimming,
Because the wax is thinning,
After burning for so long.
Now they have died,
Because you have lied,
To me, but my heart is strong.
I really do not care,
That in the dark, I’m sitting there,
Because this is my love for you.
Although you may not come tonight,
I will be here, waiting for your sight,
I will be here, waiting for you.
